Nutrigenomic Profiles

Nutrigenomic tests evaluate genetic variations, called single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes.  There are currently seven different nutrigenomic tests available at present.  They are:

  1. CardioGenomic Plus Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes that modulate blood pressure regulation, lipid balance, nutrient metabolism, inflammation and oxidative stress
  2. CardioGenomic Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes that modulate blood pressure regulation, lipid balance, nutrient metabolism, inflammtion and oxidative stress
  3. DetoxiGenomic Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes associated with increased risk of impaired detoxification capacity especially when exposed to environmental toxins.  It also identifies individuals potentially susceptible to adverse drug reactions.
  4. EstroGenomic Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes that modulate oestrogen metabolism, coagulation, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis
  5. ImmunoGenomic Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes that modulate immune and inflammatory activity.  These variations can affect balance between cell (Th-1) and humoral (Th-2) immunity, trigger potential defects in immune system defence, and stimulate mechanisms underlying chronic, overactive inflammatory responses
  6. NeuroGenomic Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes that modulate methylation, glutathione conjugation, oxidative protection and the potential to evaluate vascular oxidation
  7. OsteoGenomic Profile - evaluates SNPs in genes that modulate bone formation (collagen synthesis), bone breakdown (resorption), and inflammation, including key regulatory mechanisms affecting calcium and Vitamin D3 metabolism

These are very specialised tests.  Moya has undergone the two day intensive training workshop which is a requirement for being able to offer these tests.  They may be used in a true preventative medicine scenario or for cases in which chronic conditions exist.
